Artist's statement
I am into nature photography, close-ups and larger units, I like when each photo has a different feel, a different charm, sometimes even a dreamlike quality. I am not a proponent of major retouching or photo intervention, so I would describe my work as a softer version of the raw truth. I photograph dreams, feelings and desires through nature. Every viewer can find their own story, their own feelings in my photos. Exhibiting is an integral part of my work, as physically viewing a printed digital photograph is for me an acknowledgement of the origin of the photograph itself.
I shoot with a Nikon D750, my lenses include a fixed portrait lens and one fixed wide angle. I'm quite a minimalist in this regard :) .
I would say photography is in my blood somehow. Both my parents were photographers for many years, my uncle and great grandfather were also photographers.
From my mother I took the idea that I should take photos from the heart. That it was the only way to be happy with my work. From my dad I took from him that every challenge is beneficial and that even unexpected assignments can show me the direction I may or may not go. From my uncle, I took from him that even in the most ordinary piece of anything you can see something extraordinary.
But I didn't have everything on a golden platter. For my family, my photography was mostly just a hobby or a momentary whim. That's why my studies in high school and college were not artistic, but practical. However, I can always do photography as a "sideline". The older I get, the more I understand their views and I am ultimately grateful for that because no one "artistically molded" me and I was able to maintain my authenticity. And that's probably the most important thing for my sensitive soul.
About Elizabeth Kapošváry (born Sklářová) *1994
Alžběta Kapošváry is an artist from Ostrava. She has been creating anything and everything since childhood. Her love for photography started at an early age, when she took photos on film on family holidays. In elementary school she already had her own camera, which she used to take photos of everything that was ordinary at first sight, but always hid some magic. Her dream was to be a fashion designer and nature photographer. The camera became part of her everyday life. She studied Applied Physics for a year at VSB - Technical University of Ostrava, her ambition was to study Optics, which she would use scientifically in photography, but the demanding studies could not be combined with custom photography and free work. So she took the path of studying Creative Photography at the University of Ostrava. Unfortunately, the teachers' approach to her creative path was not in line with her ideas, so she decided to quit her studies after a year.
